South Australian Museum Shop Opal Jewellery Collection

Gerard McCabe is a local, South Australian, family business with 4 generations of experience in fine jewellery. Much of our design inspiration comes from our heritage, local stories and our environment.

Gerard McCabe is Adelaide’s premier diamond jeweller and specialises in engagement rings, wedding rings and anniversary jewellery. We also develop contemporary jewellery designs featuring diamonds, coloured diamonds, pearls and natural gemstones. Our retail and online stores also stock Gerard McCabe brand watches and a collection of antique and period jewellery. Gerard McCabe stores also offer repair and restoration services and a bespoke jewellery design service.

The Opalescence Collection

The Opalescence Collection celebrates the magnificence of the opal gemstone.  Available in a variety of colour hues and intensities, opal is a gem with wide appeal.

Opalescence jewellery features Coober Pedy solid opal in rings, earrings and pendants. Coober Pedy is an Opal mining town in the mid-North of South Australia and is considered the “Opal capital of the world”.
