Warranty information, care instructions and how to set up your timepiece

Congratulations on choosing a Gerard McCabe Timepiece.

This timepiece has been designed for sophisticated style and quality. We trust that you will have years of enjoyment and reliable time keeping from your timepiece.

Setting the Day

  1. Pull the crown out to the 2nd position.
  2. Turn the hour/minute hands clockwise to set the day of the week.
NOTE: If the day is set by turning the crown counterclockwise, there is the possibility that the date will not change over. The day changes over between the hours of midnight and about 5:30am.

Setting the Time

  1. Pull the crown out to the 2nd position, stopping the second hand at 12 o’clock. Turn the hour/minute hands clockwise to set the current time. To ensure the time is set accurately, first turn the minute hand 4-5 minutes past the desired time and then back to the desired setting.
  2. Use the day setting as a reference guide in determining morning/afternoon (am/pm) times. When the day changes over it is am.
  3. Push the crown in to the normal position upon the stroke of a broadcast time signal to synchronize your watch with the correct time.

Setting the Date

  1. Pull the crown out to the 1st position.
  2. Turn the crown counterclockwise to set the date quickly.

NOTE:
Do not set the date between the hours of 9pm and midnight. Doing so does not guarantee that the correct date will be displayed, even though the correct day has been selected.

Setting the Month

Each time the month button is pushed, the month advances one month at a time.
  1. Turn the crown counterclockwise to set the date quickly.

NOTE:
Be sure to press firmly on the button when making month changes. Do not set the month when the date hand is between the 26th and the 31st. When the date hand is between the 26th-31st month quick setting cannot be made or if a quickset is attempted, the month may not advance to the next month as normal. Move the date hand to a setting other than the 26th-31st, make the desired changes in the month setting and then return the date hand to the proper setting.

The month and date are synchronized such that when adjusting the date at the end of short months (less than 31 days), the month automatically adjusts to the correct month. The month changes around midnight of the 31st.

Water Resistance

Your Gerard McCabe watch is water resistant up to 3 ATM. It is protected in everyday life, bathing, accidental splashes, short swimming, and car washing – it is resistant against perspiration, water vapour and rain drops. The water resistance is guaranteed
by several seals but cannot be considered as permanent protection. They are subject to a natural aging process and need to be replaced after a certain time of use. However, under certain circumstances, the integrity of the moisture resistance may become compromised within a shorter period of time. Furthermore, impacts to the crown can influence the water resistance as well. A perfect long-term protection is given by annual water resistance tests.

Band Care

Your Gerard McCabe leather band needs special care. Heavy perspiration can damage your leather band. Any moisture should be blotted with a soft dry cloth and allowed to dry naturally. To clean your leather band use a dampened soft cloth and mild soap. On occasion you should wipe the inside of the band with a cloth dampened in alcohol.

Warranty Conditions

Your Gerard McCabe watch is covered by a 3 year guarantee against manufacturing defects from the date of purchase. This warranty does not cover damage to bands or glass. Nor does it cover damage, accidental or otherwise, caused by contact with water or customer misuse. Any damage caused by repairs or alterations by unauthorised technicians may void your warranty. Your warranty card must be presented to obtain warranty services. To see store locations click here or contact our concierge via email here.
